An eyeglass prescription is a set of measurements your eye doctor gives you so your lenses can be made for your vision needs. It usually includes information for each eye, and it may also include extra details like PD or prism depending on your prescription.

Where can I find my prescription?

What does Right (OD) and Left (OS) mean?

OD stands for your right eye, and OS stands for your left eye. Your prescription usually lists both eyes separately, so make sure you enter the numbers in the correct row.

What is Sphere (SPH)

SPH shows whether you are nearsighted or farsighted.
• A minus (–) number means nearsighted
• A plus (+) number means farsighted

What is CYL (Cylinder)?

CYL is only used if you have astigmatism. If your prescription includes a CYL value, enter it exactly as shown. If it is blank on your prescription, you can leave this section as 0.00.

What is AXIS?

AXIS works together with CYL. It is always a number between 1 and 180.
If your prescription does not include a CYL value, you do not need to enter AXIS.

What does ADD mean?

ADD is extra power used for reading or multifocal lenses (like progressive or bifocal lenses). If your prescription does not mention ADD, you can leave it as 0.00.

What is PD and why do I need it?

PD stands for pupillary distance. It is the distance between your pupils and helps us position your lenses correctly inside the frame. This makes your glasses more comfortable and gives clearer vision.

What does "I have 2 PD numbers" mean?

Some prescriptions show two PD numbers — one for the right eye and one for the left eye. If your prescription includes two numbers, select the option and enter both values.

How long is my prescription valid?

In many cases, eyeglass prescriptions are valid for about one to two years, but the best time to update them depends on your eye health, age, and any changes in your vision.
